The Conference will take place on 14-16 September 2016, in the main campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain). Located in southern Europe, València can be considered a peripheral European city. This peripheral situation has a crucial effect on S&T and innovation in the region, and many conventional STI indicators are inadequate to reflect this reality. Yet, València was not always peripheral. In the 15th century it was the biggest city in the Iberian peninsula and the most important commercial hub of the Western Mediterranean –as attested by the splendour of its late gothic architecture.
València is located in the eastern coast of Spain, east of Madrid and south of Barcelona. It is directly connected to the main capitals of Europe by plane. Participants arriving at Alicante, Madrid or Barcelona’s airports can reach València by train or bus in 3-4 hours.
